HJ Split - Identify File Type

By now you should have known how to join file with extension .001, .002, .003 and so on (if you understand my previous post). By the way, its not that hard.

Sometimes people just splits the movie file before uploads them to the filehosting but sometimes they zip/rar the movie file and then use HJ Split to split them into smaller size and then upload to the filehosting. You can identify the file that has been split by HJ Split simply by its filename. Take a look at this screenshot:

The first set of file is a movie file. You can see the file format just before the extension .001. In this case, my file is Harpers.Island.avi.001, so I'll combined them and my resulting file should be an .avi file. If you've download this kind of file then you can test the quality. Just play the .001 file using Media Player Classic. (I've tried using Windows Media Player but it won't work).

The second set of file is a zip file. We can't test this file so that we need to join it. After the join process is completed, we need to extract it using Winrar or Winzip or any other softwares that support this format of file. After the extracting process is completed then we can watch the movie.

There is also a software that can be used to split file into HJ Split (.001, .002) format. The truth is, the second set of split files in the screenshot has been split using this software. The resulting split file is in this format but we need to join and extract it. If we're using that software, then we just need to extract it. It also can be used to join the HJ split files like the no 1 set of files in the screenshot. Not only that, it also can extract .rar format files. I'll share about it in the next post.
